The Benches Vineyards - at Wallula Gap, S.E. WA

The Benches Vineyards is one of the most dramatic and beautiful terroirs in Washington State if not North America. The geology and topography coalesce into perfect growing conditions. Currently only about 800 of the site’s twenty two hundred acres are planted with intentions to double that in the next few years. Studio Ectypos, working with the client, has developed a masterplan demonstrating the potential for the site in establishing an exclusive “wine reserve” with 8-10 world class boutique wineries and hospitality amenities cut, tunneled and blended into the rocky backbone of this stark and stunning landscape.
